Hurley Bros Garage Bantry were appointed as a Light Goods Vehicle Test centre in 1989 . Today we have four authorised testers, which means that any customer applying for a vehicle test receives an appointment with only a few hours notice.
There are two easy ways to book a test by phoning the office during working hours , Tuesday to Saturday, 9.am to 6pm.or by leaving a message on the answering machine during out of office hours and we will return a phone call and confirm an appointment. The second way is through our website “book a test” simply fill in the question boxes and submit through our website and we will contact you as soon as possible.
You must produce your drivers license or passport when presenting for a LGVT.
The test could be split into three sections, the emissions test, the brake ,shock absorbers and side slip test, both of these are performed using special electronic equipment . The third section is the visual section when all suspension, steering parts, brake pipes, chassis , lights and lamps, windscreen glass, wipers and windscreen washers, horn ,and the bodywork, is checked for wear , corrosion, damage and sharp edges .
The Road Safety Authority and the Cork County Council lay down the rules , and monitor the standards and quality of testing in Cork County.
The cost of a light goods vehicle test is € 111.16 including vat and a €24.00 RSA levy. The test takes an hour to complete .We have a waiting room with complementary tea and coffee, and a daily newspaper is also available, so that the hour wait will be a comfortable experience.
On receiving a pass result the from us the RSA will provide a windscreen disc and a pass cert within two to three working days.
The Garda Siochana may ask for the production of a current road worthy certificate ,failure to produce a current cert may incur penalty points.
